Chocolate Oreo Truffles

These little chocolate truffles are too good! A recipe that is popular with many people I know, you only need 3 basic of ingredients to make them. You can also get creative with the flavour and the decoration, making them a win for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 packets of Oreo biscuits (original for regular truffles, or pick flavoured Oreos for something a bit different. My favourite is using Mint Oreo biscuits)
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of vegan cream cheese (plain flavoured)
  • 1-2 bars of dark chocolate (or you can use a vegan ‘milk’ chocolate)

Method:

  1. Set up your food processor and empty both packets of biscuits inside
  2. Blend the biscuits until they turn to little crumbs
  3. Add in your cream cheese and blitz until a thick mixture forms and sticks together
  4. It will appear oily and sticky
  5. Lay out some baking parchment onto a tray
  6. Wash your hands, and pick out a small amount of the mixture, forming and rolling it in your hands to make a small ball, to the size you require your truffles to be
  7. Lay these balls out onto the parchment paper and once all the mixture is used, transfer them on the tray into your freezer for 10-15 minutes (I lay them out onto my freezer tray which fits into the freezer nicely)
  8. Break up you chocolate into squares and add to a microwavable container
  9. Slowly melt your chocolate in the microwave seconds at a time, stirring the chocolate each time to check, ensuring you don’t burn it
  10. Bring your truffles out of the freezer and coat them one by one in the melted chocolate (don’t overthink it – use your fingers, roll the ball in the chocolate quickly and place back onto the baking parchment)
  11. The chocolate will quickly set, so if you would like to sprinkle any decorations on top, do this for each one after they’ve been coated
  12. Truffles are best enjoyed out of the fridge when they’re cool
